The UK did a version of The Masked Dancer, which was based on the US version. I didn’t watch much of it, but once again ITV decided to show a US The Masked Singer series on ITV2 straight after it had finished, and I did watch that, so here’s my opinion on it:

The Masked Singer (US Season 4)

With The Masked Singer being such a huge success in many countries and also with us being in pandemic time which will no doubt have created schedule gaps, it’s no surprise that international versions of The Masked Singer also get an airing. After series 2 of the UK version finished on ITV, ITV2 showed season 4 of the US version of The Masked Singer. It was shown over a few weeks with an episode every weekday, so viewing it wouldn’t have been quite the same experience as the original showing! I also have to add the disclaimer that I don’t watch a lot of American reality TV, I’m seeing this very much as an outsider. But regardless, here is what I thought of season 4 of The Masked Singer US.

The Masked Singer

The Masked Singer is one of the most entertaining, surreal prime time hit TV shows in a long time!

With most of the established reality TV formats in the UK either gone, or at least very much brands in decline, this new show is very interesting and watchable, for the bizarre, and beautifully rendered, costumes alone.

(The show has just finished it’s first run now, but the rest of this post CONTAINS SPOILERS if you haven’t seen the full series!)
